JOLED Inc. (the “Company”) recognizes the importance of personal information of users of the website operated by the Company (“Website”). The Company complies with related laws and regulations etc. in the handling of such information and properly manages such information in accordance with the following privacy policy (this “Policy”).

Handling of personal information

Definition of personal information

For the purposes of this Policy, “personal information” refers to personal information under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information; “personal information” is information concerning a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, or other description contained in such information (including information that allows easy reference to other information, thereby enabling the identification of a specific individual), and driver’s license number or any other single piece of information (such as individual identification codes) that, on its own, can identify an individual.

Collection of personal information

When the Company collects personal information, it collects such information using lawful and proper means, and through the Website, the Company collects personal information through the voluntary provision of information (registration) by users. The Company does not obtain personal information through deceit or any other improper means.

Purposes of collecting and using personal information

The Company collects and uses personal information on the Website for the following purposes:
(i) To respond to inquiries (including conducting identity verification);
(ii) To provide notifications regarding the Company’s products, technology, services, recruiting activities and public relations activities; and
(iii) Other purposes ancillary to the foregoing use purposes.
The Company does not use personal information obtained through the Website in any manner that is likely to encourage or induce illegal or wrongful conduct.

Changes to use purposes

The Company may change the use purposes of personal information, provided that the new use purposes have relevancy to the pre-change use purposes. In such a case, the Company will publish the changed purposes on the Website.

Protection of personal information

The Company takes responsibility for strictly managing the personal information it collects, and to ensure that there is no unauthorized access, loss, destruction, tampering or leak etc. of information, the Company takes reasonable security measures to appropriately manage the personal information of users.

Provision of personal information to third parties

1. Except in the following cases, the Company will not handle a user’s personal information in a manner that exceeds the scope necessary for the attainment of the use purposes and will not provide such information to a third party without the user’s consent:
(i) A case where required under laws and regulations;
(ii) A case where it is necessary for the protection of the life, body or property of a person, and it is difficult to obtain the user’s consent;
(iii) A case where it is particularly necessary for the improvement of public health or promotion of sound upbringing of children, and it is difficult to obtain the user’s consent; or
(iv) A case where it is necessary in order to cooperate with the performance of duties by a government agency, a local public body, or a person entrusted by any of the foregoing, and obtaining the consent of the user is likely to hinder such performance of duties.
2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in the following cases, the recipient of the relevant information will not fall under the category of a third party:
(i) A case where the Company entrusts all or some of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to attain the use purposes;
(ii) A case where personal information is provided in conjunction with the transfer of a business through merger or other event;
(iii) A case where personal information is to be jointly used with specific persons and the user is notified in advance of, or the user is in a position where the user can easily learn of, such joint use, the items of personal information that will be jointly used, the range of persons with whom such information will be jointly used, the use purposes of the persons who will use such information, and the name of the person who will be responsible for the management of the relevant personal information.
In the case of (iii) above, if the use purpose of the persons with whom the relevant personal information will be jointly used or the name of the person who will be responsible for the management of the personal information is to be changed, the Company will notify the user in advance of, or ensure that the information is in a state where the user can easily learn of, the details of the change.

Inquiries etc. from users

In the case where a user makes an inquiry about the user’s personal information or requests correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or erasure of such information (“Inquiry etc.”), the Company will conduct identity verification, and if the Company determines that the Inquiry etc. is from the user, the Company will respond to the Inquiry etc. in accordance with laws and regulations. Amendment of the privacy policy

Except for matters otherwise specified in laws and regulations or this Policy, the content of this Policy can be amended without any notice to users. Unless the Company otherwise specifies, the amended privacy policy will come into effect when it is posted on the Website.
